NORTHBRIDGE YOUTH LACROSSE WINTER WARM-UP

NORTHBRIDGE YOUTH LACROSSE WINTER WARM-UP

NORTHBRIDGE YOUTH LACROSSE WINTER WARM-UP

In 2022 Northbridge Youth Lacrosse brought the winter clinic back into the to the program. There were some adjustments to the program and it was moved to the Northbridge Middle School gym. The clinic is for both boys and girls and starts in mid-January. The clinic takes place one night a week and will run until the school department opens the fields for spring practices. This normally happens in the third week of March. For the 2024 winter program, we are changing the name to the “Winter Warm-Up” as it better reflects the program’s goals. The program is a skills-based event that has benefits for both new and returning players.

Benefits of the winter warm-up for new players:

1.Players have a chance to learn the basic skills required to play the game of lacrosse before we get out onto the field.

2.New players get to meet their teammates and begin to make new friendships.

3.Team coaches will be working with the players, and they get a chance to get comfortable with our staff.

4.Our younger players get to put on the equipment needed to play lacrosse during the year. Our younger players have varying adjustment periods to the helmets, googles and gloves required to play in the spring. The warm-up gives them the chance to work up to all the equipment without the pressure of upcoming games.

Benefits for returning players:

1.The warm-up gives our returning players a chance to ‘knock the rust off’ before the spring.

2.Team rosters change every season, players get to meet their teammates or reconnect with teammates they played with two seasons ago.

3.The coaching staff changes, and everyone gets a chance to meet and learn about each other.

4.Players get to work on weak hand skills to become a more versatile player when the season starts.
